Our future should be decided in the next week. I had my final interview at L'Academie this morning and then had to subject myself to a Career Aptitude Test (the ones with the little dots). The interview with Chef Patrice, the Head Instructor went well, and I got to sit in on the class that started July 1st first practical test. It was really interesting to see what is in store for me, but without the stress that I will be subjected to when I'm at the table wearing Chef Whites. Once the interview was conducted, I had lunch with the Admissions staff and then on to my Test. It was explained that this test was 1 hour long and consisted of three parts: Grammar, Reading Comprehension & Math. It made me feel good when the test proctor said it was a 10th grade assessment. Everything was going great with the grammar & reading right up until I had 20 minutes to answer 15 math questions of which half of them were multiplication & division of fractions. The worst part is they didn't even give me a calculator or even an Excel spreadsheet. I mean, who does fractions by hand anyway? One word: MODERNIZATION! Well as long as I'm smarter than a 10th grader, I was told that I will find out officially if I have been accepted into the Fall (Sept 22) Professional Culinary class. Keep your fingers crossed!
